A package of yesteryear.

Yesterday I received a package in the mail. It was an LP album from 1973, with the group Fanny one of the first female rock bands that got a record deal and ended up on the charts
They began as a high school band in the mid 60's with the sisters June and Jean Millington driving forces. Alice de Buhr, Nickey Barclay.
and a little later Patti Quatro, Brie Howard, Cam Davis. Wendy Haas, PADI Moschetta.
The vinyl Fanny Fanny Hill in 1970 and in 1972 I bought back in the 70's
I played the lp on each party and i never understood why no one had heard of them?

I have often played these records,  and i havent found the others,, Not until now. So I open my package, a costly find from tradera, 400kr postage ( never bought such an expensive vinyl before) Mother's Pride in 1973 and it looks like its new! What a feeling, as if you traveled back to a record store somewhere in the 70's, the envelope has a wonderful smell of cardboard and record contains text leaves too ,so you can join in the singing.
Fanny was an opening act  for bands like Slade, Jethro Tull and Dr. John Rush and girls paved the way for bands that would come  like The Runaways, Girlschool, The Go-Go's and The Bangles mm. Fanny did their own thing and had a confidence that was inspiring for young girls with a  rock dream.

A female elgitarrist! were not on the map. That girls could play rock? I met a girl who calls herself  Silver, She told me when she was 13 years old she got as a birthday present to accompany his cousin to Woodstock,

This was in 1969. It's just a small outdoor festival with great music, they said to her parents. 15 to 17 August when she came up and  the approximately 500,000 festival visitors on a small muddy field near the town of Bethel, New York,  Silver asked why  they  all were dancing around naked in the rain and in the mud, the  cousin  did not explain about acid , LSD and  drugs ,so she just said that everyone was a little quirky and excited for it's festival.,

-Oh Check this out, there by the way, where is Janis Joplin, she said to change the subject.
Silver kept close to here cousin during the festival, and  the bands followed one another .
When Jefferson Airplane ended there gig at the Woodstock stage she asked why Janis Joplin and Grace Slick was the only  girls that got to do something on stage? All the other girls  were just playing tambourine and singing in  the choir. It was a damn good question, Silvers cousin promised that she would find out.
The first thing she did when they got home was to take the 13-year-old Silver to Fanny concert.
The group Fanny got a record deal in 1969. when Fanny played the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium with The Kinks and Procol Harum. Their first major Gig as they say themselves where everything took off, They had to play in the Beatles' Apple studio and where studio musicians to Barbra Streisand first rock album, Stoney End  1971
The group set out on an England tour. It was just that when they came over to England  it turned out that the name Fanny and album Fanny Hill was linked to something else there,
"Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure" with Fanny Hill. The first erotic short story which was printed in 1749 and Fanny Hill was a porn star in many films. There was a male counterpart on the TV also
A Dirty old man named Benny Hill.

David Bowie wrote this about Fanny: Rolling Stone Magazine - 29/12/99:
One of the most important female bands in American rock has been buried without a trace. And it is Fanny. They were one of the finest fucking rock band in their time, in 1973 they  where extraordinary, the girls wrote and they played like shit, (They played like motherfuckers) they were just colossal and wonderful, and no one has ever mentioned them. Fanny has been a big  role models  and was always one step ahead. Reviving Fanny. And I feel that my work is not in vain.

Though they were only active as a band 1969-1975
Fanny is in my heart, and they were an inspiration even for a young guy like me. And I like to listen to these girls  today and i  think they deserve a place in rock history.
For maximum fidelity, Fanny Should be listened to at high level,

Rock on!
