Once I sat in the President chair |
Once I sat
in the President chair behind the big desk in the oval room at the White house.
I was only 11 years old when i sneaked away from the group during a guided tour of the White House.
My family was on a trip through Washington and we visited the various sights, The US Capitol, The Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial and The White House.

The Lincoln Memorial |
The Tomb of the unknown soldier |
I remember that we were carefully searched by two large guards at the gate before me and my family were allowed to enter the big white building in Washington.
Outside there was a large group of people waiting for our tour guide.
We were told to always stay with the guide and never go behind the red rope barrier in some rooms.
When we arrived outside the oval room we were allowed to stand in the doorway behind the rope and look inside.
There stood the big desk and behind it a leather chair. The desire to go inside the room took over and I lingered behind until the group started to walk on, when they disappeared around the corner i quickly slipped under the red rope and walked up to the desk.
There stood the black leather chair with brass wheels, and I gently sat down behind Nixon's desk in the Oval Room of the White House.

Even the wastepaper basket at my feet had the president's emblem, Luxurious.
I remember that they talked about in School that Elvis had recently been in the same room and that impressed me more than any Mossy old President. The year was 1970 and I was loose in the White House. The same room that Elvis been in ,
Then I
slipped back unnoticed to the group that had now arrived at some boring big library
room.
